Bat for lashes

I had heard of Natasha Khan, seen her in magazines but had never listened to her music until I took my flight back home from South Africa last Friday. ... WOW. Her lyrics, vocals, style and fashion sense are exactly what I've been seeking for inspiration. She is amazing. It's funny after all this time of knowing about her that only now I discover her. I guess it was meant to be!

Here is Daniel a song from her new album.

New Uffie video

This is not a new song, but the video was made recently and is super cute with it's mix of muted and flashy colours. Uffie is also looking very sweet in all her different outfits, makeup and hairstyles. Enjoy!

Quote

I read this beautiful quote by Micheal Jackson a while back and it stuck in my head.

“My goal in life is to give to the world what I was lucky to receive: the ecstasy of divine union through my music and my dance.”

London Fashion Week

Lucky me! I was able to go to London Fashion Week!
With the help of one of my father's friends who arranged I go with someone. I was to meet this someone in front of The Somerset House where most of the shows were held. Boy was I surprised when I found out my host was THE stylist for The Rolling Stones... Omg, I almost lost it, but of course I couldn't let it show! I was so excited...SO excited and since I'm all alone here I couldn't even call anyone to dish!!

While I was waiting for him I also saw Hilary Alexander, Fashion Director of The Daily Telegraph.
I was able to take a quick snapshot with my trusty IPhone!... I kind of felt like a paparazzi...

As for fashion shows I was able to see:
John Rocha which was so beautiful and romantic, the models all looked like tall elegant flowers. (click on any of the collages to make them bigger!)

Kinder Aggugini
Stripes and snake skin and many bright colors. The collection was vibrant and playful ,some models even wore HUGE hats on their heads!

The next day I was able to see Jasper Conran's show all in white and some very light beige almost pink. Beautiful dresses, monochrome outfits and flower cut-outs, simply divine!

And last but (very not) the least! My host William , who was instantly attacked upon our arrival by some street fashion bloggers with a great big camera wanting his fantastic picture for their blog. Picture via Fashionistable

Mark Twain's Famous Quote!

I've noticed this quote twice in two different places within the last 24 hrs... coincidence??!? ... I think not!!!

" Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than the ones you did do. So throw of the bow lines. Sail away from safe harbor. Catch the wind in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."

-Mark Twain

New Direction

I've been away from my blog and my Etsy shop for quite some time now ,almost 5 weeks! Many exciting things have been going on like for example I just moved from Montreal, Canada to London, UK!
I followed my boyfriend here after he was offered a job position that needed him to be on location. He works in the film industry, visual effects to be more precise. Needless to say we were very excited and stressed all at the same time. We got rid of a lot of our personal stuff like shitty furniture, and crap we'd been accumulating over the years. You know the crap I'm talking about!!! The stuff you get ,then forget about, then stash away just in case maybe one day someone somewhere might eventually need it for something.... and I can't throw it out it's still in perfect shape crap. That crap! I do still have a lot of that crap in storage along with other crap....anyway that's not important now. What's important is that I'm starting over in a city that is soooo inspiring it's mind blowing.
Although I've been in London for three weeks now, I still don't feel like it's home.
I haven't found a great fabric store yet and I still haven't received my special boxes I packed before I left with all my goodies in them, like my scissors, needle, thread, chains, fringe, lace, findings etc... I am waiting for my dad to send them to me but it's really expensive!! Gosh!! But there is stuff in those boxes that I've been collecting for years that I just can't go out and buy.
So while I wait for my boxes, I am scouting the city for new suppliers, visiting museums (did you know almost all museums and galleries are free in London?), drinking cappuccino's, eating in cafés and slowly running out of moula! But life is good and I'm quickly finding inspiration for my new range of designs I will be introducing on Etsy in November. The Relique will be comprised of high end designs that will be numbered or one of a kind, with a special energy to them. Stay tuned...

I will also be posting more news on my life in London shortly.
